SELLER REVIEW: It's my personal favorite rooting powder for cuttings; using this rooting powder, I've had success with conifer (95% success rate) and prunes (75% success rate). It also helps bare root trees recover really fast, with loads of leaves growing and one even flowering only 6 months later. If you follow the instructions, you should have a good rate of success. USES INCLUDE: cuttings, fertilizer, root steroid (transplanting to bigger pots), antifungal/antibacterial (prevention)... and more. USAGE FOR FERTILIZER: Either, mix in water, approx 1.5 tsp with 500ml works well, or in a salt shaker, lightly sprinkle over your soil. USAGE FOR TRANSPLANTING, UP POTS/TO GROUND: Use a salt shaker like in the fertilizer guidance above, or just sprinkle, on the roots. USAGE FOR CUTTINGS: (this is the method for leafy plants, the method is a bit different for conifers. Also most herbs root without help, so check up on your species first!) (Note: if you are unsure, there is always YouTube and the potato method?) Recommended for woody plants/trees. Cut the stem between nodes, leave about 3cm of stem below the node (proportionally use your judgement, ask me if helpful). Your cutting must have at least 2 nodes, but no more than 5. *(Some people cut diagonally, but I have tested both techniques, and found the only advantage is poking it in the soil ?) Remove the leaves from the bottom node (nodes if they're close to each other). The upper nodes, remove leaves so that there are 2 or 3. If the leaves are massive or very long, cut them in half to reduce the surface area (the best way to do this, is by gently folding the leaf along the centre line, then cutting diagonally so that no veins are left unconnected it will leave a 'v' shape afterwards). If there are flowers, remove these, as otherwise your chance of rooting will be very low. Soak the base of the cutting in water for at least an hour (do not exceed a day, as it will drown some plants). *(some plants like roses, will benifit from scraping lightly some of the stem below the node, to reveal scar tissue). Shake excess water off so it is not dripping, pour some out powder onto something and cover the wet area in the powder. *(everyone will tell you to pour the powder out of the tub, instead of dipping directly, because most people won't recognize the bark conditions [fungal or bacterial] that could be transmited by contamination, if you know what your looking for and are 100% sure you have a healthy cutting with no conditions, which is not a toxic breed, do as you please!?). Prepare a pot of sterilized compost (make it damp/wet and pat it down), if your cutting is flimsy, get something to make a hole in the soil, then go ahead and if not, go right ahead and put your cutting in. *(if you dont know if your compost is sterile and want to play safe, put it in foil in your oven for half an hour, if the weather is very hot, you could just leave it outside in the sun). Keep the soil watered, never allow it to dry out. Also, some plants root faster if you increase the humidity, you can do this by putting it in your greenhouse or making a mini one with plastic. Do not tug on the cutting unless it looks obviously dead, note that it can still be alive without leaves, your indication should be the color of the stem, or below the stem bark. Happy cuttings!! Good guides: RHS - Royal horticulture society http://rhs.org.uk/advice/profile?PID=307 http://rhs.org.uk/advice/profile?PID=387 http://rhs.org.uk/advice/profile?PID=404 There's lots on Google and YouTube also (disclaimer: this hormone is intended to increase the chance of rooting part of a plant, it will not guarantee a plant every time. It may take practice and variation in technique, to perfect the art of rooting cuttings; also to perfect new species) Postage terms 1.
